Draft minutes of phone meeting on 17 Feb 2000 --------------------------------------------- Attended by : Barry Clark, Brian Glendenning, Robert Lucas, Jeff Mangum, John Richer, Joe Schwarz, Peter Schilke, Steve Scott, Francois Viallefond, Mel Wright. We only discussed the drafted report. I note here the main comments or modifications to be done (note that the discussion continued by email, see later mails by Barry, Steve, Mel). General: - The report should be backed by numbers. We'll try as much as possible, eg for data rates, size of archive, ... For data rates we may use 3 MB/s average or 30 MB/s sustained over a single observing project. - We agreed that priorities will only be included at a later stage. On section 2: - VLBI and ephemeris-based projects (events) should be mentionned in the scheduled observations as having a top priority at a given time. - atmospheric variables, and pipeline generated variables can be available as globals to the scripting language to be used for dynamic scheduling and flow control - mark the script language features as desireable. - correlator setup tool should be described, as its effect on the sample template. On proposal input: - the existence of two phases should be made more explicit On archiving: - the scientific description of the project should be archived too, as well as history of pipeline data processing. - cite VLT not J.S. On pipeline: - among motivations: ease of use for naive users should be mentionned. - pipeline should be run at or near telescope (for quasi-realtime) and at place where official archives is kept. Contributors should send updated texts as soon as possible. Can you preferably retrieve the *.tex files on the web page and work the changes on these ? It makes integration easier since they have dates and version numbers. Next meeting in march, to discuss first comments by report readers (if any), and what to do next. I propose March 23rd, 17:00 UT. R. Lucas
